The 30-metre high statue of Jesus Christ that overlooks the city of Rio de Janeiro is one of the most iconic images of Rio and Brazil. Completed in 1931, the statue is on top of the 710-metre high Corcovado mountain, and offers breathtaking views. The mountain forms part of the Tijuca Forest National Park and is home to hundreds of species of plant and wildlife including many monkeys. A funicular train can be taken up the mountain.
