Visiting the Galapagos

Although it is possible to visit the Galapagos Islands by staying on one of the islands, it is generally better to take a cruise around the islands. This allows you to visit different islands, including the more remote ones, as well as visiting the islands early in the morning, one of the best times for observing the wildlife.

We offer 2 cruise options. On both boats you have land and sea excursions and the opportunity to go snorkelling. The larger Galapagos Explorer II is a more comfortable ship with better on board facilities, larger cabins and the most experienced guides. The excursions are carried out in small groups, but it does take longer to disembark and embark for the excursions. The ship is also more stable, helpful if you are prone to sea sickness. Expected tips are higher.

The Estrella del Mar II does not have the same onboard comfort as the Explorer II, and the cabins are smaller and more simple. Sea movement is felt more, and as the cabins are closer to the engines, these can be heard when sailing at night. However, you will generally get to know your guide and shipmates better, which can mean that you get more out of the excursions. Smaller boats are also able to anchor at some of the smaller visitor sites which the cruise ships cannot visit.

Both boats visit a range of islands, offering you the chance to see the different wildlife in the different parts of the Galapagos Islands.
