(Saturday) Galapagos, Santa Cruz Fly to the Galapagos. See giant tortoises in the Santa Cruz highlands, then transfer to the Galapagos Voyager. After lunch, visit the Charles Darwin Research Centre to see the work done in the conservation of the flora and fauna of the islands.
(Sunday) Galapagos, Floreana Walk to a lagoon with flamingos, then visit the green beach before snorkelling off Champion islet. After lunch, visit Post Office Bay, home to brown pelicans, yellow warblers and warbler finches. Climb to Baroness Lookout for a view of the island’s coastline.
(Monday) Galapagos, Española Visit Punta Suarez, walking among the blue-footed boobies. Waved albatrosses nest here from April to November. After lunch, visit Gardner Bay, a beautiful beach with sea lions which is excellent for swimming and snorkelling.
(Tuesday) Galapagos, San Cristobal See blue-footed boobies, frigate birds and sea lions on Isla Lobos. Depending on conditions, this visit is either by foot or a panga ride. You can snorkel here. In the afternoon, visit the Cerro Colorado giant tortoise breeding centre, then Puerto Chino beach, where there are sea birds.
(Wednesday) Galapagos, North Seymour, Black Turtle Cove North Seymour is home to many marine birds, including magnificent frigate birds and blue-footed boobies. In the afternoon, take a panga ride in the mangrove swamps at Black Turtle Cove, where there are rays, marine turtles and white tipped sharks.
(Thursday) Galapagos, Santiago The black sand beach is home to several species of birds, marine iguanas, sea lions and Galapagos fur seals. After lunch, visit Espumilla Beach, where marine turtles nest, home to a palo santo forest. There is good snorkelling nearby.
(Friday) Galapagos, Bartolome, Sullivan Bay Climb to the summit of Bartolome, giving wonderful views. There is a small colony of Galapagos penguins near the beach. After lunch, visit Sullivan Bay where you can see strange lava formations and lava lizards and snorkel.
Day 11 (Saturday) Galapagos, Quito Your final excursion is a short visit to the Gemelos craters during the transfer to the airport for your flight back to Quito (2 nights).
(Sunday) Galapagos, Plaza Sur, Santa Fe See frigate birds and tropicbirds from the clifftops of Plaza Sur, with sea lions basking in the sun. In the afternoon, see land iguanas in the cactus forest of Santa Fe, then snorkel among the parrot fish from the white sandy beach.
(Monday) Galapagos, Daphne, Bachas Beach Take a yacht ride at Daphne to see frigate birds, tropicbirds, blue-footed and masked boobies. After lunch, snorkel from Bachas Beach, where sea turtles sometimes nest. Flamingos sometimes live in the nearby lagoons.
(Tuesday) Galapagos, Genovesa See frigate birds, storm petrels and marine iguanas on your morning walk in Darwin Bay. You can snorkel from the coral beach. After lunch, visit Prince Philip’s Steps, with red-footed and masked boobies and short-eared owls.
(Wednesday) Galapagos, Mosquera, Cerro Dragon Mosquera is a small islet formed by a geological uplift. Sea lions, shorebirds and red Sally Lightfoot crabs can be found on the beach. If the tide is too low, the visit is by panga ride. In the afternoon, visit Cerro Dragon where often there are flamingos near the two lagoons. You can snorkel here.
(Thursday) Galapagos, Sombrero Chino, Rabida Sombrero Chino has fascinating lava tunnels and flows, and is home to sea lions, marine iguanas and Galapagos penguins. You can snorkel here. After lunch, visit Rabida, with red sand and rocks. The clear waters are very good for snorkelling.
(Friday) Galapagos, Isabela Visit the flamingos at a large coastal lagoon, then visit the Giant Tortoise Breeding Centre to see the Isabela subspecies. After lunch, travel to the Sierra Negra volcano. A walk up the rim offers incredible views of the second-widest crater in the world.
(Saturday) Galapagos, Quito Your final excursion is a short visit to the Gemelos craters during the transfer to the airport for your flight back to Quito (2 nights).
