Day 1 (Wednesday) Buenos Aires Fly from the UK to Argentina’s capital, Buenos Aires, arriving in the evening. You are met at the airport and transferred to your hotel (2 nights).
Day 2 (Thursday) Buenos Aires A free day in Buenos Aires. Take the optional half day Historic Buenos Aires excursion to explore different areas of the city; including the Pink House made famous by Evita, the historic area of San Telmo, La Boca, and the old port before continuing to La Recoleta, one of the most elegant neighbourhoods of the city.
Day 3 (Friday) El Calafate Fly from Buenos Aires to the town of El Calafate, located on the shores of Lake Argentino in southern Patagonia (3 nights). In the afternoon maybe go bird watching at nearby Nimes Lagoon or take the optional Patagonia Four Wheel Drive excursion . This 3 hour excursion takes you across the Patagonian steppe by Land Rover, and you will be able admire wonderful views of the granite Mount FitzRoy (on clear days) and Lake Argentino.
Day 4 (Saturday) El Calafate A 90 minute drive along the shores of Lake Argentino takes you to the Perito Moreno Glacier, part of the Southern Patagonian Ice Field. You first visit the walkways, where you can see the face of the 60-metre high glacier up close. Here you can listen to the groans and creaks as the glacier breathes, and, if you are lucky, watch immense chunks of ice break off the glacier and crash into the lake. Then take a boat ride to see the glacier from a different perspective. After a packed lunch, you have time to explore the glacier and walkways on your own, before returning to El Calafate in the late afternoon. Please note, the order of the visits may vary.
Day 5 (Sunday) El Calafate A free day in El Calafate or take the optional full day Estancia Cristina excursion across Lake Argentino to an old sheep ranch. You are collected from your hotel before driving to Puerto Bandera, before crossing Lake Argentino, sailing among the icebergs. Visit Estancia Cristina, beautifully located in the shadow of the mountains and close to glaciers. Enjoy a 4 wheel drive tour to a lookout point over the impressive Upsala Glacier.
Day 6 (Monday) Ushuaia Fly from El Calafate to Ushuaia located at the tip of Argentina (2 nights). Located on the Beagle channel, Ushuaia is impressively set, with forests, glaciers and mountains rising up behind to provide a striking back drop (2 nights).
Day 7 (Tuesday) Ushuaia Free day. Perhaps visit the Tierra del Fuego National Park by the End of the World Train. Alternatively visit Estancia Haberton which was founded by a British missionary at the end of the 19th century.
Day 8 (Wednesday) Stella Australis Check in for your cruise, then you have a free day in Ushuaia. Board your ship in the evening before you set sail (3 nights).
Day 9 (Thursday) Stella Australis In the morning, you sail to Cape Horn. If the weather permits, disembark on the southernmost landmass before Antarctica. In the afternoon, visit Wulaia Bay, once site of one of the largest settlements of Yamana aborigines, who were wiped out by European diseases in the 19th and early 20th century. Then, take a walk through a Magellanic forest, enjoying the beautiful views.
Day 10 (Friday) Stella Australis In the morning, sail through the desolate Beeknock and Ocasion Channels to enter the spectacular Agostini Sound. Here you can see the glaciers flowing down the mountainside. After lunch, you arrive at the Aguila Glacier, where you are transferred to the shore by zodiac boat before taking a easy walk on the shore of a lagoon to reach the base of the glacier.
Day 11 (Saturday) Torres del Paine In the early morning, weather permitting, disembark on Magdalena Island, home to an immense colony of Magellanic penguins. For April cruises, this excursion is replaced by a zodiac ride at Isla Marta to observe sea lions. You arrive in Punta Arenas in Chile in the late morning. Take a 5 hour road transfer into Torres del Paine national park.(3 nights).
Day 12 (Sunday) Torres del Paine A free day in Torres del Paine. Take the optional Torres del Paine excursion and Boat to Grey Glacier. The full day Torres del Paine excursion explores this great national park, visiting the lagoons, waterfalls, glaciers and mountains by road. The park is dominated by the granite Paine massif, with wonderful views of the towers and horns throughout the park. A packed lunch is provided. As part of the Torres del Paine excursion, you can add a cruise on Lago Grey, where you sail to the glacier and maybe watch chunks of the glacier crash into the lake. The navigation takes approximately 2 hours.
Day 13 (Monday) Torress Del Paine A free day in the park. Explore on your own or take the optional Las Torres Trek which lasts 7 hours and is of moderate to high difficulty, with a packed lunch included. You trek through beech forest before arriving at the glacial moraine, where you will be rewarded with fantastic views of the granite towers. You can also book activities directly in the hotel, including horse riding and mountain biking, as well as tours of the park by minivan.
Day 14 (Tuesday) Santiago Transfer back to Punta Arenas for your flight to Santiago (1 night)
Day 15 (Wednesday) Overnight flight to the UK.
Day 16 (Thursday) Arrival in the UK.
