Poas Volcano & Coffee Plantation

A full day excursion begins visiting Poas Volcano, where you see the sulphur fumaroles of the main crater and the beautiful Botos Lagoon. Then visit the nearby Doka Coffee Plantation, where you have lunch. Take a tour of the farm, where some of the finest coffee in the world is produced. Learn about the process of producing coffee as you walk through the coffee bushes and visit the roastery.

Arenal Volcano & Tabacon

An afternoon excursion to the Arenal Volcano National Park, located on the western side of the volcano. Your guide leads you on trails through old lava felds and secondary forest to a lookout from where you may be able to see lava fowing. Park rangers monitor the volcano activity to see which trails are safe.

You return to your hotel for a brief rest and to collect your swimwear before you visit the Tabacon Hot Springs in the evening. These very beautiful springs consist of many large and small pools of mineral waters heated by Arenal Volcano set in tropical gardens. Hot water rivers, between 27ºC and 42ºC, run throughout the grounds, forming natural waterfalls and pools, some secluded, where you can bathe. A buffet dinner is included, and some tables have direct volcano views, where you may be able to see the red glow of the flowing lava.

Monteverde Skywalk

This afternoon excursion takes you into the canopy of the Monteverde Cloud Forest. The Sky Walk is a network of five suspension bridges, platforms and trails through the top of the Monteverde Cloud Forest. The longest bridge is nearly 300 metres long. Your guide will help you to explore the forest canopy, getting a completely different perspective of the forest and the wildlife. From the bridges you will be rewarded with magnificent views of the surrounding cloud forest.

Monteverde Cloud Forest

A morning excursion to explore the trails of the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. This is an area of orchids, bromeliads, ferns, vines and mosses as well as crystal clear streams and waterfalls. The difference in altitude in the forest has helped produce an area of very high biodiversity, and there are more than 100 species of mammals, 500 species of butterfies, 120 reptile and amphibian species and 2,500 plant species, including over 400 different types of orchids. There are 400 species of birds in the reserve, including the quetzal, mot-mot and the bare-necked umbrella bird.
