This half-day guided tour takes you to the colonial heart of Lima. Visit the cathedral, where the conquistador Francisco Pizarro is buried, and beautiful monasteries and palaces. Enter the macabre catacombs of San Francisco, and then return to the modern districts of Mirafores and San Isidro to visit the pre-Inca site of Huaca Pucllana.

A guided half-day tour of Inca sites in and around Cusco. Visit the Inca temple of Qoricancha, the most sacred building of the Inca Empire. Then explore the incredible Inca fortress of Sacsayhuaman, where a ferce battle between the Incas and the Conquistadors took place, and the Inca sites of Qenko, Puca Pucara and Tambo Machay. This full-day excursion visits the Sacred Valley of the Incas, with the snow-capped Andes towering over the bubbling Urubamba River, a tributary of the Amazon. Visit the bustling and colourful market town of Pisac, which sells some of the finest crafts in Peru. After a good lunch at a country restaurant, explore the superb Inca ruins at Ollantaytambo, with beautiful views along the valley. The Inca’s retreated here after the Spanish conquered Cusco. Then continue to the colonial village of Chincheros set high above the Sacred Valley. From Chincheros, enjoy the amazing views of patchwork fields with the back drop of Cordillera Vilcabamba mountain range in the distance.

An early start from Cusco, taking a bus and then the Vistadome train, with wonderful views of snowy peaks of the Andes as the train descends the beautiful Urubamba Valley. The vegetation becomes increasingly tropical as you approach the high jungle below Machu Picchu.
Take a bus from the valley up the mountain and enter the site. You are immediately confronted by a combination of stunning mountain scenery and well-preserved Inca ruins, making this one of the wonders of the world. These were only rediscovered in 1911 after lying abandoned for centuries.
Take a fascinating guided tour of the site, visiting the Temple of the Sun, the Temple of the Three Windows and the Intihuatana, which the Incas used to ‘tie’ the sun to the earth at the winter solstice.
After a buffet lunch next to the ruins, board the train to Cusco, arriving in the evening.

A full day excursion giving a fascinating insight into the Nazca culture. Take a one hour transfer from Paracas to Ica to visit the excellent regional museum, where you see the deformed trophy skulls, mummies and fantastic Paracas culture textiles. Continue for another 90 minutes by road through the desert to Llipata to see the Palpa Lines. Here, you get your first view of the giant lines etched into the desert, the most visible of which are a group of 10 anthromphorphic figures from the Paracas culture. Then visit the main Nazca Lines viewing tower where some of the more famous lines, including the frog and the hands, are visible. Continue to Nazca where you have lunch. After lunch, visit the site of Paredones, an administrative centre built by the Incas 1,000 years after the height of the Nazca culture. You also visit the Cantayoc Aqueduct, an underground irrigation system built in 300BC, important for the survival of the Nazca inhabitants allowing them access to water year round in the desert. You return to your hotel in the evening, arriving at approximately 7pm, after a 3 hour drive.

A night at Machu Picchu allows you to explore the ruins in the late afternoon and in the early morning light the next day when there are fewer visitors present. You can also discover the beautiful surrounding area. After your tour of the Inca ruins, check in to your hotel in the valley below the ruins. You have a free day in the area before returning to Cusco the following afternoon.
Please ask if you are interested in a 2 night stay at Machu Picchu. The bus and Machu Picchu entrance for the second day are not included.

If you like the idea of arriving at Machu Picchu on foot, after trekking through the Andes, but do not want to walk for four days to get there, the Short Inca Trail is the perfect option.
You catch a bus then a train to the start point of the trail at Chachabamba. The path climbs steeply, arriving at the spectacular Inca site of Wiñay Wayna in about 3 hours. After a packed lunch, you continue, reaching the Sun Gate in the late afternoon for your first, magnificent, view of Machu Picchu. Saving the ruins for the next day, you descend to the valley for a good night’s sleep in your hotel.
The following morning you return to Machu Picchu for a guided tour of the Inca ruins. You can then explore the site further before your return train to Cusco.
The excursion includes a professional guide, train, bus and entrance tickets and hotel accommodation. Lunch on the first day and breakfast at your hotel are included. An overnight bag will be taken to your hotel in Aguas Calientes while you are on the trail.
The 9-mile long trail climbs rapidly for the frst half of the walk, with a maximum altitude of 2,600 metres, so a good level of fitness is required. It may not be suitable if you suffer from vertigo.

For customers walking the Inca Trail or the Short Inca Trail, take our 3 optional excursions (Colonial Lima, Inca Cusco, Sacred Valley) for a special price. This package excludes Machu Picchu, as the Machu Picchu entrance fee and return train are already included.
For a supplement, the spectacular journey from Cusco to Puno can be made by train instead of coach. The beautiful train includes a bar and a glass walled observation car, allowing you to enjoy the scenery. A three-course lunch is included.
