The north coast of Peru contains probably the finest archaeological sites in Peru. The incredible treasures of the Lord of Sipan were only discovered in 1987 after looted relics alerted archaeologists. Chan Chan is the world’s largest adobe city and the nearby Temple of the Moon contains some of the finest painted friezes in Peru. Trujillo is a beautiful colonial city.
