Brașov

   More photos

Brașov is located in the heart of Romania in the evocative historical region of Transylvania encircled by the Carpathian Mountains. Built originally by Teutonic Knights and German settlers brought in by the King of Hungary to safeguard trade routes and develop the local economy, Brașov is a charming traditional Romanian town famed for its pleasant pastel-coloured baroque buildings. It is a great place to explore with superbly preserved Gothic medieval churches, ornate pedestrianised squares and one of Europe’s narrowest streets – Rope Street (Strada Sforii).
