7 Reasons to Travel to Kenya with Llama Travel
Kenya is one of Africa’s most iconic safari destinations, offering excellent wildlife and dramatic landscapes. Witness the wildlife interactions on safari in the Masai Mara, explore the Ol Pejeta Conservancy, one of the best places to spot rhinos and see Africa’s Big Five, and admire the flamingo-filled lakes of the Rift Valley.
At Llama Travel, we create high-quality holidays that offer flexibility, security and great value for money. See below why our Kenya holidays really are better.
1. Small Groups
At Llama Travel, we believe small groups make it easier to get around and enjoy every experience without feeling rushed. In Kenya, you travel in a four-wheel-drive safari vehicle with a maximum of just six people. Smaller groups mean easier wildlife spotting and more time to ask questions and learn from your guide. It also allows you to move quietly through the reserves, increasing your chances of seeing Kenya’s remarkable wildlife up close.
2. Safari vehicle with pop-up roof
All our safaris in Kenya are conducted in four-wheel-drive vehicles with a pop-up roof, designed to give you the best possible wildlife-viewing experience. The pop-up roof allows you to stand and enjoy unobstructed, panoramic views across the savannah, making it easier to spot animals, follow their movements and capture great photographs. You’ll be accompanied throughout by your driver-guide, who will share fascinating facts and anecdotes about the wildlife, scenery and local culture.

3. Safari visiting different parts of Kenya, so you get a complete experience
Kenya is one of the best destinations in Africa for wildlife, and at Llama Travel, we make sure you experience it in depth. Rather than focusing on just one reserve, our safaris take you through different regions of Kenya, each with its own landscapes and wildlife highlights.
a) Masai Mara
The Masai Mara is one of Africa’s most iconic safari destinations, known for its wide-open plains and exceptional wildlife. With Llama Travel, you spend three nights in the Masai Mara Game Reserve, enjoying a mix of half-day and full-day game drives with your expert guide, who shares insights into animal behaviour and their movements. Between June and October, you witness the Great Migration, as vast herds of wildebeest and zebra cross the plains and rivers, one of the most dramatic wildlife spectacles on earth.

b) Ol Pejeta Conservancy
Spanning over 90,000 acres, Ol Pejeta Conservancy is home to Africa’s Big Five and holds the largest population of black rhino in East Africa, and, sadly, the last two northern white rhinos in the world, which you may catch a glimpse of if you are lucky. You’ll enjoy game drives, including an early morning drive when wildlife is most active, and an afternoon visit to the Chimpanzee Sanctuary to learn about their care and conservation. For those craving something a little more exhilarating than an evening by the fire, an optional night game drive excursion offers the chance to spot Kenya’s rare wildlife including the aardvark, white-tailed mongoose, caracal, bat-eared fox and even lions and leopards.
c) Lake Nakuru
Lake Nakuru National Park is one of Kenya’s most rewarding wildlife areas, known for its rich birdlife and scenic setting. Over 400 species of birds can be spotted here, with the most famous being the pink flamingos that feed on algae in the lake’s alkaline waters, often turning the landscape a vibrant pink painting. The park is also Kenya’s first and largest rhino sanctuary, giving you excellent chances to see both black and white rhino. After your game drive, return to your comfortable lodge within the park to relax, enjoy a delicious meal and take in unobstructed views of the lake and wildlife.

4. Excellent lodges
Hotel and lodge standards in Kenya can vary, so at Llama Travel we carefully select comfortable and well-located lodges throughout your journey, close to the best wildlife areas. After early-morning game drives and days spent exploring the savannah, you’ll return to a welcoming base to relax and unwind. In the evenings, settle in beside the fireplace with a local beer or a glass of wine, sharing stories and reliving the day’s wildlife sightings with the rest of your group before another memorable safari adventure.
5. Meals included
One of the great joys of a safari is that all your meals are included throughout your trip. Start off your day with a satisfying breakfast before starting your adventure for the day. From relaxed lunches between morning and afternoon game drives to well-earned dinners after a long day exploring Kenya’s wildlife, you can simply sit back and enjoy hearty, freshly prepared meals at your camp.

6. Add a visit to the palm-fringed coastline of Diani Beach
After your adventurous game drives, you can further extend your trip with a relaxing stay on the palm-fringed coastline of Diani Beach. Spend three nights at your own pace, unwinding on soft white sands beside the crystal-clear Indian Ocean. Surrounded by lush greenery, Diani beach is the perfect post-safari retreat. For something more adventurous, you may choose to snorkel or dive in the nearby marine park, spot sea turtles and dolphins, sail by traditional dhow to the coral reef, or try kitesurfing or even skydiving, which can be arranged locally.
