Argentina is one of South America’s most captivating countries, offering a mix of lively cities, wide-open landscapes and unforgettable natural sights. From enjoying great food and passionate tango in Buenos Aires to exploring the stunning glaciers of Patagonia, there is so much to experience.
Llama Travel’s Argentina Itineraries have been designed to ensure you make the most of your time in this incredible destination. Here are seven reasons why you should visit Argentina with Llama Travel.
1. Small Groups
At Llama Travel, our groups average just 11 people, with a maximum of 18, making it easier to get around and enjoy each experience without feeling rushed. Smaller groups really make a difference, whether you’re exploring the walkways above the Iguazu Falls, taking a tour of La Boca in Buenos Aires, or watching the stunning Perito Moreno Glacier calve. With fewer people, you’ll have more time to interact with your guide, ask questions, and gain a deeper understanding of the region’s culture, history and landscapes.

2. Design Your Own Holiday
Everyone has different priorities for their holiday to Argentina, and at Llama Travel we let you mix and match extensions, excursions and accommodation to create the holiday you want. Spend time in Buenos Aires, enjoying its food, tango and distinctive neighbourhoods, then travel south to El Calafate to see the impressive Perito Moreno Glacier. You can also include Iguazu Falls, experiencing the natural wonder from both the Argentinian and Brazilian sides, or head further south to Tierra del Fuego to witness the dramatic landscapes at the end of the world.
You can then choose to extend your trip beyond Argentina, perhaps adding Brazil to soak up the energy of Rio de Janeiro, or travelling to Chile to hike through the epic Torres del Paine National Park, explore the scenic Lake District or visit mysterious Easter Island, and spend time in Santiago, the Chilean capital framed by the snow-capped Andes.

3. Mix of guided tours and free time to explore on your own
Our itineraries offer the perfect balance of guided experiences and free time to explore independently. In Buenos Aires, you have time to discover the city at your own pace, from shopping in San Telmo and wandering the colourful streets of La Boca to enjoying Argentinian steak and wine by the Río de la Plata in Puerto Madero. You’ll also enjoy guided visits to highlights such as Iguazu Falls from the Brazilian side. In Patagonia, guided tours help you make the most of the dramatic landscapes, whether it is the stunning Perito Moreno Glacier or taking a boat ride through icebergs to the historic Estancia Cristina. This mix lets you explore freely while benefiting from the knowledge of a local guide.

4. Combine with Brazil and/or Chile
Our Argentina holidays are flexible, letting you combine your trip with Brazil and/or Chile for an even more exciting adventure. Continue to Brazil to relax on Rio de Janeiro’s famous beaches, or join our half-day optional Santa Teresa excursion to explore the city’s most picturesque neighbourhood with a guide. Head to Chile and visit Santiago, the modern capital framed by the snow-capped Andes. You can then discover the volcanoes and lakes of the Chilean Lake District, the moai statues of Easter Island, or the stunning landscapes of the Atacama Desert.

5. Explore Patagonia in depth
Visiting Patagonia is one of the greatest adventures in South America, with its dramatic peaks, vast plains and glacial lakes. On our Best of Argentina & Chile programme, we make sure you experience the very best of this region from both the Argentinian and Chilean sides. Marvel at the Perito Moreno Glacier flowing into Lago Argentino in the Los Glaciares National Park. If you’re lucky, witness huge chunks of ice breaking off and crashing into the water. You can also explore the wilderness of Tierra del Fuego, an archipelago at the southernmost tip of South America. In Chile, explore Torres del Paine, one of the world’s greatest national parks.

6. See Iguazu Falls from Argentina and Brazil
Exploring Iguazu Falls is one of the highlights of a visit to Argentina. This series of over 270 waterfalls stretches for over one and a half miles through lush forest, culminating in the Devil’s Throat, the 700-metre long, 82-metre-high horseshoe falls. Our holidays are designed to ensure you get to experience the falls from both the Brazilian side of the falls, with the more impressive panoramic vistas, and the Argentinean side, with a vast network of walkways allowing you to get amongst the falls and right above the Devil’s Throat falls.
